Gabrielle Deschaine

Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC, BC-DMT, TF-CBT, C-DBT, Owner

Gabrielle’s love of movement from a very young age has fostered a practice grounded in Dance/Movement therapy over the last 25 years. Coupling body-centered practices with Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems and mindfulness, Gabrielle attends to the wholeness of each individual in creative ways. Seeking to assist every body in restoring connection within themselves and with others is her ultimate goal.

Gabrielle has vast experience as a performer, trainer, educator of self-care, and clinician in various settings including In-patient psychiatric care, Community mental health, Corrections, and private practice. She finds joy in being witness to others discovering self-compassion and acceptance. She has a strong belief in the power of the body as healer and wishes to inspire others to employ their innate resources throughout their life’s journey.

Gabrielle’s theoretical framework is psychodynamic, humanistic and Jungian with an emphasis on attachment theory. As the client discovers wounded and protective parts, the process of empathic attunement begins. The client develops compassionate curiosity and an inner dialogue with challenging parts. The client learns what the parts need and practices self-care to restore functioning and balance to the whole system.

Gabrielle’s work is also informed by recent trauma research and the impact trauma has on neurological functioning. Coupling the imaginal realm with concrete science, Gabrielle’s approach is brain balanced and holistic in nature.
